Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information Promise ("we," "our," "the app") collects from people who use the Promise closed test, how it's used, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
- Account information: email address, first name, password (stored securely by our authentication provider, never in plain text), and how you identify (used only to apply free-messaging access for women).
- Profile information: city, age, occupation, education, relationship readiness, values, family goals, and anything else you choose to add to your Intentional Profile.
- Photos: profile photos and any pictures you upload to your Promise Wall.
- Content you create: your Self Promise, Couples Promises, Family Journey entries, Promise Wall posts, Couples Goals Wall posts, and messages you send in the app.
- Payment information: if you subscribe, payment is processed directly by Stripe. We do not receive or store your card number.
- Usage information: basic device and app diagnostic information used to fix bugs during testing.
How we use this information
- To create and operate your account and Promise Journey.
- To show your profile to other members as part of matching, where applicable.
- To process subscription payments through Stripe.
- To respond to support requests and improve the app during testing.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share limited information with the service providers that run the app on our behalf:
- Supabase — hosts our database, authentication, and file storage.
- Stripe — processes subscription payments.
- Other Promise members can see the parts of your profile, Self Promise, or Wall posts that you choose to make visible to them.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by emailing privacy@thepromiseplatform.com.
Your choices
- You can edit or remove most profile information from within the app.
- You can control whether your Self Promise, Wall items, and Couples Goals posts are private, shared with the Promise community, or public.
- You can request a copy of your data or ask us to delete it at any time.
Children's privacy
Promise is intended for adults 18 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app develops during testing. We'll update the date at the top of this page when we do.
